The miserable state of College Basketball in Georgia!

Post by Mike

The Kirby effect spills over. Now Bulldawg Nation is no longer satisfied with mediocre basketball and cries are growing for the firing of Coach Mark Fox. However it may surprise many to find out that UGA is the best college basketball team in the state.

That's right... UGA ranks 69th in the RPI standing that measures strength of schedule among other metrics. I know you think I'm joking, but check it out. RPI STANDINGS

RPI RANKINGS OF MEN'S BASKETBALL IN GEORGIA

UGA - 69
Georgia State - 146
Georgia Tech - 157
Georgia Southern - 167
Mercer - 202

Gross! That has to be a reflection of the basketball talent in the state... right?

Now that was funny!

Of the top 5 teams in the RPI there are 9 players from Georgia.

1 - UVA has 2 players. UVA Roster
2 - Xavier has 2 players. Xavier Roster
4 - Auburn has 5 players. Auburn Roster

It is understandable that players might leave the state to play for Duke (Roster) or UNC (Roster) as those are the premier programs in the sport, but Xavier? UVA?

Any program that can keep talent in state will be a top tier March Madness team.
