The GHSA was forced to move this season's football finals to December 11 and 12 because Arthur Blank's MLS soccer team bumped the regular schedule by reaching the finals to be played at the Benz on December 8.
GHSA has known this was a possibility since they singed the contract. Very bad decision. Championship games being played mid week? The crowds will be thin and they already look thin on TV in that monsterous setting.
I hope the powers that be never enter into a contract to do that again. Play at Bobby Dodd and Mercer. Dual sites with reduced time between kick offs. If a higher seed is from South Georgia play at Mercer. If the higher seed is from north Georgia play at Bobby Dodd.
Sure there would be a weather element, but it's football. The game is played in the elements.

Frenchy takes over for Joe Simpson

I was impressed with Frenchy last season and I remember one broadcast in particular when he was describing how much Joe Simpson did for him during his rookie season. Simpson would teach the young guys the ropes of road trips, buy them meals and give them pointers. Frenchy was truly appreciative.
Simpson will move to radio, which is good. It was time, and radio is much more informative and deep with detail TV doesn't need because of the visual elements.

The NCAA has a new algorithm called the NET rankings. This will play a major role in determining the field of 68 in March.
Interesting that Duke is 6. Also interesting, or sad, the highest ranked team in Georgia is still Georgia Southern at 83.

Could the Braves acquire Bumgarner? And at what price?

According to MLB the Braves are in a good position to trade for Bumgarner, but who would the Giants want?
On the surface, the Braves appear well-positioned to build a compelling offer for Bumgarner based on their pitching-heavy farm system. Their top four prospects according to MLB Pipeline -- Mike Soroka, Kyle Wright, Ian Anderson, and Touki Toussaint -- are hard-throwing right-handers. But there's no momentum for Bumgarner to be dealt to the Braves, who are beloved by many fans in his home state of North Carolina.

Anthopolis went bargain hunting with Donaldson. My speculation is they want to give Austin Riley another year in the minors and use Camargo as a utility.

No. 5 Georgia opened as a 13.5-point underdog to No. 1 Alabama in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Bulldogs haven’t closed as that big of an underdog since 2009 against Florida when the Gators were favored by 15 points. If the line holds and Georgia was to win Saturday, it would be the greatest upset in the 26-year history of the SEC championship.
This is the first time this season Georgia has even been an underdog.
Good prep for Saturday.
